Jen Ross Art Exhibit Open Journal at Coffee Labs

Jen Ross sent me the following to share with the community:

Dear Friends,

From age 12 to today I have kept a journal, filled with words and art, each telling a story from a segment of my life. Like most journals, they have spent their days since creation atop a night stand, on a shelf, or of late, in a box. Trapped is the art, the expression, the journeys that seek to be seen, read, and told.

Please join me for my first local (well - first ever) art exhibit Open Journal at Coffee Labs Roasters in Tarrytown, NY, on Friday, May 7th from 5:30 to 7:30.

Journaling is indeed an art.

Warmly,
Jen Ross

Tarrytown's Project Daffodiil

It’s almost October and time to plant more daffodil bulbs! These cheery blooms are perennials, so if you plant this autumn, your yard or neighborhood will be a lovely place to be next spring!

The Tarrytown Beautification Foundation is offering daffodil bulbs to our village at the wholesale price of only $75 per bushel. You will have about 450-500 mixed variety bulbs to plant in your yard. Perhaps you can interest some of your neighbors to share a bushel and plant more daffodils each year.

You can plant the bulbs about 20-25 to a hole for a nice display, or you can plant them in ones and twos. If a few of you share a bushel or more, your neighborhood will be in bloom by mid April!

This is the fourth year of Project Daffodil. Our original goal was to plant 10,000 bulbs a year for ten years ending up with 100,000 daffodils by the spring of 2016. The enthusiasm for Project Daffodil has been so great, that Tarrytowners have already planted 80,000 plus bulbs! TBF hopes to celebrate the 100,000 bloom mark in April 2010.

If you would like to buy a bushel, please contact Patricia Pinckney

So join us, Slow Food Westchester, your friends, neighbors, politicians, and local leaders to promote – TIME FOR LUNCH.

We will provide appetizers, desserts and liquid refreshments on the lawn at theWashington Irving School in Tarrytown. There will be music, soccer, and games for the kids. Drop by for a half hour or two hours.

You do not have to have young kids to participate. The important thing is to show our legislators that we all care what kids in America are eating in their schools. It will be fun and a great way to start a new school year.
