Historical Society Meeting and Lecture, May 7

The Satirist & the Historical Society: Inventing Diedrich Knickerbocker/ Thursday, May 7

You are invited to join friends and members of the Historical Society at its Annual Meeting 7 pm Thursday, May 7 at the historic Masonic Hall, 54 Main Street, Tarrytown. It will be hosted by Solomon’s Lodge No. 196 F. & A.M and refreshments will be served.

The highlight of the evening will be a talk by Elizabeth L. Bradley, Deputy Director of the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cu llman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library, on The Satirist and the Historical Society: Inventing Diedrich Knickerbocker. Ms Bradley is the author of the forthcoming: Knickerbocker: The Myth Behind New York, and the editor of the Penguin Classics edition of Washington Irving's A History of New York. She has written on New York City history and culture for Bookforum and The New-York Journal of American History.
